A lot has happened since I last posted on this thing -
The picture here is from Lollapalooza. We weren’t really sure what to expect, but the crowd was unbelievable. We played on a shady satge in the middle of the day for about 4000 people. Freaking incredible. Strangely, this might not even be my favourite part of the festival. I got to watch Wilco for the very first time from ON the stage. In Chicago. Their home town. And not to mention Radiohead, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, Dr. Dog, Mark Ronson, Iron and Wine, ect. ect. ect.
We flew out to Lolla in the middle of our tour with The Hush Sound, The Cab and The Morning Light. It’s been an insanely good thing for us - I feel like we’re winning the crowd over every night, and that we’ve really been at the top of our game, especially these past few weeks. I have been surprised at how young the kids are at these shows. I feel old. Really old. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve been a full decade older than a lot of the people we’re playing for … I don’t know when that happened … the switch, I mean.
Tour is almost over - I’m counting the days until I’m home for a few weeks. I miss my family and am really looking forward to getting into the studio and getting some work done. It’s not to say that this hasn’t been a great three months - it’s just a long a really long time to be away without any time off.
Almost to hotlanta. Greensboro tomorrow!
